2023 MCI VIII

About Scramble for the Kids

Scramble for the Kids became an official event in 2015 with a small group of friends gathering to play a scramble golf tournament at Chastain Park Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia. The event consists of 4-man scramble teams competing against each other for the ultimate prize of winning the "MCI" and bragging rights. Additionally, there are Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive challenges during the tournament along with raffle prizes at the after-party. Deeply rooted in the event are the ideas of building relationships, making new friends, and giving back to the community as we enjoy our time on the golf course together. This year marks the 9th annual event, and we now host 70+ players and 15+ volunteers every year!

Amount Raised to Date

In the first few years, we would call the event Scramble For The Dawgs and hit the golf course to play for fun. In 2018, Billy Trujillo suggested I turn the golf tournament into a charity event benefiting Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. Thus, we changed the name to Scramble For The Kids and Billy joined the team as Head of Philanthropy. Our goal is to reach $100,000 in donations by 2030. Thanks to the players and volunteers over the years, we have raised thousands of dollars benefiting CHOA and are on track to meet our goal!

Through the Years

What started as a small gathering of 8 friends golfing together to celebrate a birthday in 2013 has grown to an annual charity tournament with 70+ players and 15+ volunteers participating every year! The volunteers, many of the players' wives and girlfriends, have been pivotal to making the Scramble For The Kids a legitimate charity event. Every year, they work in the summer heat and concoct the best drinks and snacks for the players to purchase via donation to CHOA. The volunteers always bring smiling faces to the golf course, keep the players hydrated and ensure the players donate every year. THANK YOU to all the volunteers through the years, you all are the backbone of this event!
